The other day they were having a big 9/11 memorial and a fevered debate broke out. One side thought that we should pair our rights and responsibilities towards promoting liberty with those that promote security and find a way to responsibly maintain checks and balances and find out what responsible governance is. The other side thought “911 was an inside job”.
One side thought even the wrong enemy is better than no enemy in the face of an attack. That if we aggressivey attacked anyone in retailiation it created a strong message that we won’t be weak in the face of aggression and that protecting the country requires possibly occasionally acting on the side of haste. The other side thought jet fuel couldn’t melt steel.
One side thought 9/11 was a national tragedy and that the hero’s should be honored. The other thought 9/11 was a plot to take oil and take freedoms.
I’m not smart enough to figure out what the hell any of that means but what I can tell you is that ten eleven counts to twelve.
